EmbracePlus needs to be connected via Bluetooth to a paired compatible phone so it can transfer data. The easiest way to confirm the connection is to check that the Empatica heart icon is visible on the EmbracePlus display.
While EmbracePlus is disconnected, it saves data to its internal memory and uploads it once the connection is back. If that memory fills up, EmbracePlus stops recording. Reconnecting promptly is what keeps your data collection from being interrupted.
Why disconnections happen, and what to do about each cause
- Bluetooth is turned OFF.
- Leave Bluetooth ON at all times.
- EmbracePlus is out of Bluetooth range of your phone.
- Keep EmbracePlus within 30 feet/10 meters of your phone.
- Something is blocking the Bluetooth signal.
- Walls, large furniture, and heavy fabric all weaken the signal. Keep your phone in the same room as you, ideally on you rather than in a bag or another room.
- EmbracePlus is still paired to another phone or tablet.
- EmbracePlus connects to one device at a time. If it was paired to another phone or tablet before, unpair it there, in that device’s Bluetooth settings (iOS devices, Android devices).
- The Care App is closed.
- The Care App needs to stay open, or at least running in the background.
-
Android Your phone is shutting the Care App down to save battery. Many Android phones do this to background apps automatically.
- Follow our configuration tips for Android phones to turn off battery optimization and let the Care App run in the background.
If you’ve checked all of the above and EmbracePlus still disconnects, follow the full recovery procedure in Troubleshooting the M! and X! icons.
