The EmbracePlus display shows more than the time and the battery charge level. A quick glance also tells you whether EmbracePlus is connected via Bluetooth to the Care App and recording data. Learning to read the display helps you catch disconnections early, spot error icons, and collect as much data as possible.
The display is a quick check, but the most reliable way to see the full status of EmbracePlus and your data is by checking the Care App.
The display also shows the EmbracePlus battery level. Read more about checking the battery and charging it here.
When EmbracePlus is connected via Bluetooth to the Care App and recording data, the display shows*:
- The hour
- The minutes
- The Empatica heart, which means EmbracePlus is connected to the Care App
- A light display background
* The display changes when you press a side button to check the battery, when you tag an event, or when the battery gets critically low and a ‘LOW’ message appears. In all these cases the background stays light, which means EmbracePlus is still connected and recording data.
Reading the time
The display shows a 12-hour clock with no AM or PM. The number on the outer circle is the hour; the number in the center is the minutes. EmbracePlus takes the time from your paired phone automatically.
EmbracePlus Bluetooth connectivity
The Empatica heart at the 12 o'clock position of the display is visible when EmbracePlus is connected via Bluetooth to the Care App.
If the heart is not visible, EmbracePlus is disconnected.
While disconnected, EmbracePlus keeps saving sensor data to its internal memory. Reconnect as soon as you can. If that memory fills up completely, EmbracePlus stops collecting data until space frees up again.
Data recording
A light display background means EmbracePlus is recording data.
A dark background means EmbracePlus is not recording. This is normal in these cases:
- EmbracePlus is charging
- A few seconds of calibration after you take EmbracePlus off the cable charger
- A few seconds of calibration while EmbracePlus starts up or restarts
- An error icon is showing (see below)
Error icons: M! and X!
Two icons mean EmbracePlus has stopped recording and needs your attention. Both are fixable: see Troubleshooting the M! and X! icons for what to do.
-
M! - the EmbracePlus internal memory is full. It filled up because EmbracePlus was disconnected from the Care App for a long time.
-
X! - EmbracePlus has been disconnected from the Care App for a long time.
In both cases, the first thing to try is the same: bring EmbracePlus within Bluetooth range of your phone and open the Care App to reconnect. Data collection usually resumes within 2 to 3 minutes. If the memory was full, clearing it completely can take a few hours, but that happens in the background and you don’t need to wait for it.
