Checking the EmbracePlus battery level and charging the device correctly are key to collecting as much data as possible.
Three ways to check the battery
You can check the EmbracePlus battery charge in three ways:
- Press one of the side buttons briefly to show the battery percentage on the EmbracePlus display. See What the display shows below for the battery warnings.
-
Tap the status card on the main screen of the Care App to see the battery percentage. EmbracePlus needs to be connected to the Care App for this figure to be up to date.
- Watch for Care App notifications on your phone. If notifications are turned on, which we recommend, the Care App tells you when EmbracePlus is fully charged and ready to wear, and when the battery is low and needs charging.
What the display shows
Once you’ve turned EmbracePlus on and paired it at least once, it stays ON until the battery runs out. The display tells you where the battery level stands:
-
Press one of the side buttons briefly, for less than a second. The time disappears and the battery percentage appears.
- Press a side button again to go back to the time.
- Or wait 10 seconds and the time comes back on its own.
-
Low battery, charge soon: a battery icon below the time means the battery is running low. Put EmbracePlus on the cable charger soon.
-
Low battery, charge now: a ‘low’ message means EmbracePlus is about to turn OFF. Put it on the cable charger as soon as you can. The message clears once charging starts, or if you press a side button.
-
Out of battery: an empty battery icon on a dark display means EmbracePlus has run out of battery and needs charging. The dark background means data recording has stopped.
Note: keep the press brief. Holding a side button for about 1 second tags an event instead, and shows a checkmark on the display.
Charging EmbracePlus
EmbracePlus comes with its own cable charger in the box. To charge the device:
- Plug the cable charger into a standard USB (5V) power source. The charger has a USB-A plug, so you may need an adapter if your power adapter only has USB-C ports.
- Slide EmbracePlus into the cable charger with the display and side buttons visible. Magnets pull the two together, so you’ll feel a slight tug as EmbracePlus snaps into place.
- When charging starts, the display background turns dark, which means data collection has stopped, and shows the current charge level. A full charge takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- EmbracePlus is fully charged when the display shows ‘100’. To take it off, hold the charger body in place and gently slide the device out.
- The display stays dark for about 10 seconds while EmbracePlus calibrates. Once the background turns light and the time appears, data collection has started and EmbracePlus is ready to wear.
